The UAE, Saudi Arabia, the UN and Western countries support Israel on the Jerusalem issue, Palestinian deputy Sayid Abu Musameh says
Palestine called on the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for an urgent meeting on Jerusalem following reports claiming that U.S. President Donald Trump would make an announcement moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem and thus recognize the city as the capital of Israel. Claims also led Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas to call on all Palestinians for “intifada,” meaning to “shake off,” referring to the Palestinian attempt to shake off Israeli occupation and gain independence.
Speaking exclusively to Yeni Şafak regarding the U.S. strategy on Israel and its chaotic plans to declare Jerusalem as the Israeli capital, Palestinian Member of Parliament Sayid Abu Musameh stated that the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, the U.S., UN and Western countries support Israel. “Muslim countries should unite and take action for Jerusalem as soon as possible. If not today, when will we protect Jerusalem? Will we protect it when it becomes Israel’s capital?” he questioned.
Noting that the issue of Jerusalem is a matter of Palestine and the Muslim community, Musameh stated that if the U.S. recognizes Jerusalem as the Israeli capital, it will ignite a Palestinian revolution.
“Jerusalem belongs to Palestine. If necessary, we will make a martyr of all Palestinians, but we will not sacrifice Jerusalem. Turkey stands with us. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will not abandon Palestine or Jerusalem.”
The Palestinian deputy said that important decisions will be taken in the meeting on Jerusalem. “The Palestinians will take action. We will not keep silent. We will not sacrifice our territories to Jewish or Zionist plans. We will resist and win,” he concluded.
Jerusalem is sacred to both Muslims and Jews, as it includes sites known to Muslims as Haram al-Sharif (The Noble Sanctuary), al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the rock, as well as an ancient Jewish temple.
