The Religious Department's calendar says Muslims perfom the afternoon prayer only 22 minutes after the midday prayer in Nordic countries

Muslims living in the Nordic countries perform the prayers of midday, afternoon and evening within a span of two hours, says a calendar issued by Turkey's Religious Department (DİYANET).

The calendar shows that Muslim believers perform the midday prayer at 13:29 (local time) in Kiruna, an Arctic town of northern Sweden;

Tromsø

city in northern Norway and

Reykjavik
,

the

capital

of

Iceland
.

In these cities, Muslims must gather to perform afternoon prayer 22 minutes after the midday prayer at 13:51 (local). The congregations are supposed to turn back to places of worship for evening prayer at 15:39 (local time).

The prayers of midday, afternoon and evening are performed in three hours in the northern capital cities of Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Helsinki.

The Muslims fast only seven or eight hours a day in this part of the World during years when the Muslim holy month of Ramadan falls in December or January. However, they have to refrain from eating, drinking and sexual intercourse for 22 hours a day for the fast if the holy month falls in June or July, during the longer daylight hours known as “White Nights."
