Turkish American Communities Platform wants to provide common ground for all Turkish-American NGOs
A new social platform for Turkish-American communities was established in New York to provide common ground for all Turkish American NGOs.
Turkish American Communities Platform was founded by volunteers of Turkish-Americans living in the New York area to "help Turkish American NGOs to declare their views and activities in an accorded fashion,” according to its website, tac-platform.org.
A statement by Ali Beba from the platform said Turkish-Americans have more than 300 professional and social associations, each aiming to strengthen collaboration between members with fellow Americans.
“The platform is a firm believer that each association should continue to its planned activities to bridge the friendship between our two countries," the statement said.
“Due to the very bumpy relationship between Turkey and the US at the present, however, we believe that there is a need of for building a platform or a common ground to help the tightening the ranks between these associations so that they could express accorded voices,” it added.
The U.S. is home to approximately 500,000 Americans of Turkish descent, according to the platform.
