Israel army confirmed launch of 3 rockets from Gaza

The Palestinian Hamas group's armed wing on Thursday announced firing a rocket barrage toward Tel Aviv, central Israel, marking the first rocket firing from Gaza after Israel broke the ceasefire on Tuesday.

In a brief statement, Al-Qassam Brigades said it fired a rocket barrage of M90-type toward Tel Aviv "in response to the Zionist massacres against civilians" in Gaza.

The Israeli army confirmed the rocket firing from Gaza, claiming that one was intercepted by the army's air defenses, while two others struck open areas.

Earlier, Israeli media, including the Times of Israel news website, said the incoming rocket sirens were sounded in central Israel, following the rockets firing from Gaza.

No casualties have been reported by the Israeli authorities so far.

More than 700 Palestinians were killed and over 900 others injured in a surprise aerial campaign by Israel on Gaza since Tuesday, shattering the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that took hold in January.

Nearly 50,000 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and over 112,000 others injured in a brutal Israeli military campaign in Gaza since October 2023.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
