2 additional Greek islands included in program, says media reports
Greece renewed an express visa program for Turkish nationals for one year, according to media reports.
Following actions by the Greek Foreign Ministry, the European Commission approved the renewal late Thursday for an additional year beginning April 1 to grant short-stay visas to certain Aegean islands for Turks and their family members, said public broadcaster ERT, citing diplomatic sources.
It maintained that the Commission welcomed the successful implementation of the program in the past 12 months and recognized its positive contribution to promoting contacts between the Turkish and Greek peoples.
The islands of Patmos and Samothrace were included, taking the number of islands in the program to 12.
The duration of the visa will be seven days and will be issued at entry points in ports of the islands.
