The Greek Supreme court rules that none of the eight Turkish soldiers linked to Turkey's July 15 coup will be extradited
The Greek Supreme Court ruled against the extradition of all eight Turkish soldiers who fled to Greece after the failed July 15 coup attempt in Turkey, a court official announced on Thursday.
The soldiers fled Turkey on the night of the coup bid in a Blackhawk helicopter and landed in Greece seeking political asylum.
The court decision may only be appealed at the European Court of Justice.
The soldiers that fled are members of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), which is the group behind the coup plot.
FETÖ terrorists are led by U.S.-based Fetullah Gülen, who is the mastermind behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.
