Turkey's Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu says Assad regime should conduct talks with moderate opposition following a full scale ceasefire to be implied as foreign militia should leave Syria immediately
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has said that the foreign militia should immediately leave Syria to pave the way for a healthier and full scale evacuation of the civilians to the safe zone.
Çavuşoğlu's remarks came during the 'Situation in Aleppo' meeting that was held in Saudi Arabia by the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Thursday.
"Regime should conduct talks with moderate opposition following a full scale ceasefire that will be implied across the war-torn country," Çavuşoğlu said.
"The most important thing to do is save Syrian people from the starvation, blockade and bombardment, as more than 600,000 people were killed and 11 million left their houses," Çavuşoğlu said.
"It is important to note that the United Nations Security Council has a decision which points to how humanitarian aid cannot be compromised with any obstacle," he said.
The meeting came amid ongoing Aleppo evacuation which began on December 15.
The Russia and Iran-backed Assad regime launched attacks to the Syrian province of Aleppo, located 50 kilometers from Turkey, on November 15, as it had been launching attacks on the city since long before.
However, international efforts of Turkey, Russia, the United States and other parties led the evacuation and more than 40,000 have been evacuated so far from the city that was targeted with intense airstrikes of Iran and the Russia-backed Assad regime.
