UAE, Morocco report more deaths, while Qatar and Lebanon records new infections

Health authorities in four Arab countries reported new fatalities and cases due to the novel coronavirus on Tuesday.


In a statement, Morocco’s Health Ministry said one more patient had died from the virus, bringing the nationwide death toll to 180.

The ministry said 100 new cases were detected over the past 24 hours, raising the number of COVID-19 infections to 5,153.

A total of 7,799 people have recovered from the disease in the country so far, it added.

Qatar's Health Ministry said 951 more coronavirus cases were recorded in the Gulf state, bringing the overall figure to 17,142.

A total of 12 people have died from the virus, while 924 people have recovered so far, the ministry said.

The Lebanese Health Ministry also confirmed one more coronavirus case, bringing the total to 741.

The ministry said 25 people died from the disease, while 209 people had recovered so far.

In the United Arab Emirates, the Health Ministry said nine people died from the virus, bringing the death toll to 146.

The number of coronavirus cases surpassed 15,100 with new 462 cases, while the country confirmed that 3,153 people had recovered so far.

The virus has killed nearly 252,000 people worldwide, with the total number of infections over 3.6 million. Meanwhile, over 1.18 million people have recovered from the disease, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
