This 23-year-old animal lover spends £400 a month on her pampered pigeons who have their very own room, clothes, and even pram

We all know that our pets are like family and often treat them as such with myriad tales of pampered cats and dogs living the lush life that would turn most people green with envy. However, this is a rags-to-riches story about adopted pigeons that now have their own room, a wardrobe filled with fashionable clothes, and even a posh pram.

Meggy Johnson, 23, from the British county of Lincolnshire, discovered her passion for pigeons in 2016 when her late dog Pippa spotted an abandoned nest containing a living and dead squab each.

The animal-lover then took the little survivor home, hand-feeding the bird with a tube around the clock for six weeks after appealing to bird rescue centers for advice.

Three years later, Meggy rescued "Sky" when a man brought the chick to her pet supply store in a carrier bag, and the one-eyed Moose, now five months old, this year in May.

However, what makes this young woman unique is that her monthly expenditure on her feathered friends amounts to a whopping £400, more than enough to feed a British family of two for a month.

"They have their own converted bedroom which is their space and they have all their little perches, toys, and wardrobe. They live the life of luxury... they are fashionistas and have their own wardrobe with about 17 outfits - each one costs between £25 and £30," Meggy said.

"They do look super cool, but the outfits are also really practical because they catch their poo and help keep the house clean," she added.

She also celebrates the birds' birthdays and "gotcha days," their rescue anniversaries, with excessive gifts.
