Busenaz Surmeneli beat Chinese opponent Liu Yang to win Women's World Boxing Championships' 69-kg final
Turkish boxer Busenaz Surmeneli earned gold medal in the 2019 Women's World Boxing Championships in Russia on Sunday.
Surmeneli beat her Chinese opponent Liu Yang in the 69-kg final in Russia's Ulan-Ude to be the world champion in the category.
The 21-year-old Turkish athlete won her first world title in seniors.
Separately another Turkish athlete, Elif Guneri bagged silver medal in Ulan-Ude after her loss to Russian boxer Zenfira Magomedalieva in the 81-kg final.
Earlier Sunday, Turkey's Buse Naz Cakiroglu claimed silver medal in the Women's World Boxing Championship in the 51-kg category after losing to Russia's Liliya Aetbaeva.
Started on Oct. 3, the Ulan-Ude 2019 will end with the closing ceremony on Oct. 13.
