Thiem ends Federer's bid for record sixth Indian Wells title
Austria’s Dominic Thiem beat Swiss Roger Federer to win the Indian Wells title in California.
Thiem ended Federer's bid for a record sixth Indian Wells title.
The Austrian defeated a 20-time Grand Slam champion Federer 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Thiem captured the first title of his career in 'ATP World Tour Masters 1000' and rose to No. 4 in the world rankings on Monday.
"For me, it’s unreal," said Thiem said after the match.
"I enjoyed every second of it. I had to get used to Roger’s game. In the first set, he was playing amazing. I was struggling a little bit, but I fought my way back into the match," he added.
