A wanted Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorist, who had a price tag of 1.5 million Turkish liras on his head and was also featured in the blue pages of the Turkish Interior Ministry, was discovered to have been killed during the operation in Turkey's southeastern province of Diyarbakır on Thursday.
The slain high-profile terrorist, Nevzat Gündüz, who also went by the nickname Azat, was among five other terrorists that were killed in Lice town.
The Diyarbakır public prosecutor continues its search for the identities of other terrorists killed in the operation.
During the operation, a large amount of explosives and weapons, including Kalashnikovs and long-barrel rifles, were seized.
The Turkish Interior Ministry list has been divided in five color-coded categories, with red designated as the most wanted, followed by blue, green, orange and grey.
The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU, resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
Since then, PKK terrorists have martyred nearly 800 members of security forces and claimed the lives of over 300 civilians, including women and children, while more than 10,000 PKK terrorists have been killed or apprehended in army operations.
