Tensions are running high in the eastern Mediterranean after the United Arab Emirates (UAE), together with Israel took part in last week’s Iniohos 2019 drills on the Aegean peninsula of Morea in southern Greece.
It is said that Washington was behind the inclusion of UAE in the planned military exercises in Morea, the biggest yet in Greek history, thus signaling Abu Dhabi joining the anti-Turkey alliance and escalating tensions in the Aegean Sea.
The drills were also notable for bringing together pilots from Israel and the UAE as they flew their planes together over Morea.
Another notable detail from this year’s Iniohos drills was that F-35 fighter jets had taken part in the military exercise.
