Erdoğan talks with Tsipras on phone; Greek PM says 'what's necessary will be done quickly on detained coup plotters'
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has talked with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on the extradition of the six soldiers who fled to Greece requesting asylum.
"What's necessary will be done quickly," said Tsipras, adding that they are standing by the Turkish government against the coup attempt.
The phone call followed the detainment of the eight pro-coup soldiers seeking asylum in Greece.
Earlier Greece's state television ERT reported that a Sikorsky Black Hawk helicopter, which was carrying the eight Turkish officers, landed at a site near Alexandroupolis.
Greek authorities allowed their landing 10 minutes before noon on Saturday after they sent a distress signal at 11:45 that morning.
The Greek media outlet said the six out of eight coup plotters on aboard were dressed in military and police uniforms.
It was discovered that the plotters requested political asylum from Greek authorities.
