Software Defined Network Enabled Broadband Access to reduce costs by working on virtual servers, says Turk Telekom

Turkey's GSM giant Turk Telekom, with its subsidiary Argela, has become the first company globally to experience the Software Defined Network Enabled Broadband Access (SEBA) technology on the live field with the internet, IPTV (Internet Protocol television), and voice services.

SEBA, developed on Open Networking Foundation, an international platform, provides strategic superiority in network technologies, Turk Telekom said in a press release on Thursday.

It provides a better management by enabling the internet distribution devices in homes, buildings, streets, and neighborhoods to get smart with local software, according to the release.

"SEBA, where high speeds are experienced in the access network, [is] built on virtualization and developed on an open source platform and it aims to reduce foreign dependency and accelerate local production," it noted.

It added that SEBA, which Argela and its US-based subsidiary Netsia have been working on, was launched following a two-year test phase in two provinces of Turkey.

The press release said the new technology will reduce costs by working on virtual servers.
