Turkish Cypriot President Ersin Tatar extended his gratitude Friday to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for his statements and unwavering support of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
The TRNC, a Turkish state in the Eastern Mediterranean, maintains its existence based on the principle of "One nation, three states," Turkish News Agency-Cyprus (TAK) quoted Tatar in a written statement.
Tatar stressed the “shared unity of purpose and common values” between the two countries and said: “It is my greatest hope that our relations with Azerbaijan, a nation we see as an integral part of our own, will steadily strengthen."
Tatar welcomed Aliyev’s announcement that the TRNC flag would be raised at the Organization of Turkic States meeting which will be held in Baku and various events in the country.
He expressed his wish for continued cooperation between the two sides.
