Eighteen Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorists, including three senior operatives, responsible for the death of 103 Turkish troops were neutralized in a Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) operation conducted by a miniature drone that lasted 504 hours (21 days).
The operation dubbed “Dagger 2” that was launched on Oct. 11 in southeast Turkey utilized the “wasp” drone.
The digital material captured from terrorists neutralized in Gabar was deciphered, as well as the coded messages sent using radios.
The PKK terrorists’ location was found using photographs published in an interview they gave, and their coordinates were found.
Following this, the silent “wasp” drone was dispatched, and on Nov. 2, the terrorists were killed in groups.
The wasp drone was also used during Turkey's Operation Olive Branch in Syria's Afrin to monitor PKK terrorists.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union and the United States. The PKK has been conducting armed violence in the southeastern part of Turkey since 1984. More than 40,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in the three-decade long conflict.
