Mehmet Görmez says all Muslims 'should be in unity and togetherness', during Pakistan visit

The perpetrators of the recent terror attacks in Turkey would soon face punishment in this world and divine justice in the next, Turkey's Religious Affairs Directorate said Sunday.

The remarks by Mehmet Görmez came during a celebration of birth of Prophet Muhammad at the historic Badshahi Mosque in Lahore, Pakistan -- a day after dozens of victims were killed in twin blasts in Istanbul.

Görmez said all Muslims “should be in unity and togetherness", stressing Turkey and Pakistan are “brotherly countries".

Two explosions rocked the Besiktas district of Istanbul late Saturday when a car bomb was detonated two hours after the end of a Turkish football league match between Besiktas and Bursaspor.

Moments later a suicide bomb attack rocked Macka Park in the same neighborhood. The suicide bomber blew himself up after police noticed him, according to Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu. The attacks martyred at least 38 people and injured 155 others.

Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmuş said Sunday that the PKK terror group was "most likely" involved in the attack.
