Mohammed Wajeeh Juma'a on Sunday was elected as the new president of the Syrian Turkmen Assembly.
The results were announced in a written statement after the fourth General Assembly meeting was held in capital Ankara.
According to the statement, 360 Turkmen delegates from Aleppo, Latakia, Hama-Homs, Damascus-Golan and Raqqah regions along with members of three political parties participated in the meeting.
The new leader and over 40 assembly members were named following a 'democratic election', the statement added.
Deputy Prime Minister Recep Akdag, Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Yildiz and representatives from Syrian opposition groups had also attended the meeting.
