People gather in front of Trump Tower in Manhattan, wave American flags, and dance to disco classic YMCA
New York City supporters of Republican candidate Donald Trump on Wednesday celebrated his projected victory in the 2024 presidential race.
The supporters gathered in front of Trump Tower in Manhattan after Trump claimed victory over his rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, in Tuesday's election.
Waving American flags, they held signs saying "Trump Won" and "Make America Great Again."
They also danced to the song YMCA, the iconic 1970s disco track by the Village People, which became a staple at Trump's rallies, though the group sent his campaign a cease and desist letter telling them to stop using it.
Trump addressed his supporters in Palm Beach, Florida, where he thanked the American people "for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president and your 45th president," referring to his first term in office, in 2017-2021, before Joe Biden won four years as the 46th US president.
The crowd cheered and chanted: "USA! USA! USA!"
"This is a magnificent victory for the American people that will allow us to make America great again," Trump told the supporters, who wore MAGA hats.
As for Democratic candidate Harris, as her supporters gathered in Washington, DC, her campaign Co-Chair Cedric Richmond announced early Wednesday that she would not address supporters yet.
"We still have votes to count. We still have states that have not been called yet. We will continue overnight to fight to make sure that every vote is counted, that every voice has spoken.
"So you won't hear from the vice president tonight, but you will hear from her tomorrow," Richmond told supporters at Howard University, her alma mater.
