Pro-Palestine rallies continue for its 8th day at campus
Pro-Palestine protesters at the George Washington University on Thursday wrapped a keffiyeh on the monument of America's founding father.
The students put a note with a quote by Refaat Alareer, who lost his life in an Israeli airstrike in December, on the George Washington monument at the campus.
"If I must die, let it bring hope, let it be a tale," it said.
Pictures available with Anadolu show the keffiyeh completely covering George Washington's head and face and the Palestinian flag wrapped around his neck.
The keffiyeh has become a prominent symbol of Palestinian nationalism.
The pro-Palestine rallies continued for its 8th day in the campus despite student arrests.
Amid ongoing demonstrations at universities across the US in solidarity with Palestine, US police have arrested hundreds of students this week as university campus administrators seek to repress pro-Palestinian encampments and protests.
The demonstrations started on April 17 at Columbia University to protest Israel's offensive in Gaza, in which more than 34,500 Palestinians have been killed and 77,700 injured.
They quickly spread to other campuses including Yale and Harvard.
