Six Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) terrorists attempting to flee to Greece were captured at the border on Friday.
The 54. Mechanized Infantry Brigade Command Border troops identified 10 people, including children, who were attempting to flee to Europe from Meriç, a district in Turkey’s Edirne province that borders with Greece.
A FETÖ-affiliated doctor, sergeant and four teachers were taken into custody. The suspects, along with the four children who were with them, were taken to the border police station.
The FETÖ-linked terrorists had been discharged from their duties and the judiciary had issued search warrants.
FETÖ terrorists are led by U.S.-based Fetullah Gülen, who orchestrated Turkey's July 15 coup attempt and is the mastermind behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.
Since the failed coup, operations have been ongoing in the military, police and judiciary as well as in state institutions across the country to arrest suspects with alleged links to FETÖ.
