PKK terrorists have killed an officer in Diyarbakir province's Sur district
A police officer was martyred during an operation against PKK terrorists in Turkey's southeastern Diyarbakir province on Wednesday, police sources said.
Police and gendarmes are carrying out an operation backed by helicopters in the province's Sur district with the aim of eliminating PKK terrorists, removing roadblocks, filling ditches and destroying booby-trapped explosives.
The PKK - considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU - resumed its armed campaign in late July.
Since then, around 195 members of the security forces have been martyred while more than 1,700 terrorists have been killed, according to official figures.
