Siirt province anti-terror branch performs operation at domicile
Two PKK terrorists were neutralized Tuesday by Turkish police in an operation held in the southeastern province of Siirt.
Police sources told Anadolu Agency the province's anti-terror branch performed an operation at a house where authorities were previously informed that a group of terrorists were preparing for an attack.
Refusing to surrender after warnings, the terrorists inside the house threw grenades at police.
The terrorists were neutralized in the clash and police tightened security measures in the area.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU and resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year against the Turkish state.
More than 300 civilians and nearly 800 security personnel have since been martyred. Around 8,000 PKK terrorists have been killed or apprehended.
