Taksim Mosque, which has been eagerly awaited for by Istanbulites, was captured on camera for the first time. While construction, which started in February 2017 continues, the latest state of the holy site was revealed with aerial imagery.
The images reveal Beyoğlu’s cosmopolitan structure which has a mosque, Greek Orthodox church and Armenian Catholic church alongside each other.
It will reflect the amalgamation of modern and classic with its interior design. With its capacity of 2,500 worshipers, the mosque will also play host to cultural and art activities. Moreover, it will have a three-story car park with a 165-vehicle capacity upon its completion.
Additionally, there will be an art center under the mosque where Turkish Islamic art works are exhibited. The mosque’s height, which will be around 30 meters, was determined by considering that of the Greek Orthodox Church and Armenian Catholic Church in the area, reported officials.
