American-Palestinian model Bella Hadid has found herself the target of a Twitter rant propagated by Israel’s official account as she made it crystal clear where her loyalties lie in the face of Tel Aviv’s brutal ethnic cleansing of Palestine.

The outspoken supermodel, who has been vocal about the atrocities committed by Israel during the latest assault on Gaza and the West Bank, seemed to have gotten under Israel’s skin, as she has been accused by the country’s official Twitter account of advocating to throw “Jews into the sea” in the latest attempt by Tel Aviv to spread misinformation after several prominent celebrities condemned the  attacks on Palestinians. ⁣

“When celebrities like @BellaHadid advocate for throwing Jews into the sea, they are advocating for the elimination of the Jewish State,” Israel wrote, adding “Shame on you!”

The basis for the accusation was a chant that Hadid joined in on during a pro-Palestine rally in New York, which was broadcasted live to millions of followers on her Instagram account.

"The way my heart feels.. To be around this many beautiful, smart, respectful, loving , kind and generous Palestinians all in one place... it feels whole ! We are a rare breed!! It's free Palestine til Palestine is free!!!" she captioned her post.

The decades-old slogan in question, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” refers to the geographical borders of Palestine and carries no ethnic or religious undertones, prompting several observers to deem Israeli attempts to smear the supermodel “desperate” and “misleading.”

Outraged users on Twitter called on the platform to take action against the clear attempt by Israel’s official account to spread misinformation and fake news.

“When an official government account attacks a model for speaking out against them, I think they’ve lost the thread,” replied Hilary Rosen, a journalist with over 100,000 followers on Twitter.

Both Bella and supermodel sister Gigi are impassioned supporters of Palestinian rights and have used their social media platforms since the outbreak of the recent conflict to spread awareness about Israeli crimes against Palestinian civilians.

At least 212 Palestinians have been killed, including 61 children and 36 women, and 1,400 others injured in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since May 10, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The recent tensions that started in East Jerusalem during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan spread to Gaza as a result of Israeli assaults on worshippers in the flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.
