At least 854 Israeli soldiers killed, 5,846 injured since start of Gaza war in October 2023, military figures show
An Israeli soldier was killed in a “car crash” in the Gaza Strip, the army said on Monday.
A military statement said the soldier, from the army's Combat Engineering Corps' 5067th Battalion, died in the crash that occurred during operations near the Nahal Oz settlement on the Gaza border.
It, however, did not give details about the nature of the operations.
According to Israeli military figures, 854 soldiers have been killed and 5,846 others injured since the launch of the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023.
The Israeli army renewed its assault on Gaza on March 18, shattering a Jan. 19 ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement with the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.
More than 52,500 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in a brutal Israeli onslaught since October 2023, most of them women and children.
The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants in November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
