Army attacks Hezbollah weapons depot, military structures near Rameh area, southern Lebanon

The Israeli army said on Wednesday that it hit Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon after detecting the launch of 10 missiles toward northern Israel.

Warplanes attacked a Hezbollah weapons depot and military structures in the vicinity of the Rameh area, southern Lebanon, the army said in a statement.

After receiving alerts in the Kiryat Shmona area, the army identified 10 missiles launched from Lebanon toward the Israeli territory, the statement added.

Air defenses successfully intercepted several missiles, it noted, adding that the army responded to the sources of fire within Lebanon.

The Army radio said a missile launched from Lebanon fell on a building in Kiryat Shmona near the Lebanese border, without any casualties reported.

The Israeli army also reported targeting a weapons manufacturing site for Hezbollah in the Khirbet Salim area late Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes escalated their airstrikes on several towns in the south of the country on Wednesday, focusing on residential areas and open terrain, according to Anadolu.

Additionally, Israeli drones executed multiple strikes on the outskirts of the town of Ibl al-Saqi along the Rshafah Al-Fukhar area of southern Lebanon.

Tension has flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid an intermittent exchange of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.

The border tension came amid an ongoing Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip launched after a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023.
