New devices built from ground up for Apple Intelligence – much-anticipated artificial intelligence features

US-based global tech firm Apple on Monday unveiled its new iPhone 16 smartphone series.

The new iPhone has aerospace-grade aluminum, coming in two sizes – 6.1 inches (15.49 centimeters) for the iPhone 16 and 6.7 inches for the iPhone 16 Plus.

They are equipped with new customizable action buttons, that can be programmed for a flashlight or calendar.

Another action button is dedicated to camera control, which provides instant access to the camera, in addition to adjusting different camera features using the finger of its user.

The new devices are built from the ground up for Apple Intelligence – the company's much-anticipated artificial intelligence (AI) features.

Both iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are equipped with Apple's new A18 chip, which is up to 60% faster compared to the CPU in iPhone 12, while its GPU is up to 40% faster than in iPhone 15.

They are equipped with a 48-fusion megapixel camera, which offers four times the resolution compared to iPhone 14.

In addition to black and white, the new phones come in pink, green and blue.

While the iPhone 16 starts at $799, the iPhone 16 Plus begins at $899 in the US.

The company, in addition, unveiled its much-anticipated AI capabilities known as Apple Intelligence.

Apple Intelligence has the capability to operate across language, images, action and personal context.

Users, in addition, can prompt the digital assistant Siri with text, pull up details from text conversations, and ask Siri questions with their voices. Users can also type to Siri now, instead of just using voice mode.

Siri, in addition, can tap into a user's personal context to give personalized responses.

Apple Intelligence has a dedicated AI image generation app, as users can ask it to find any photos or videos across memories by using their natural language.

It offers user summaries from Apple mail and notifications with one-liner descriptions.

While the first Apple Intelligence features for iPhone 16 will be launched in beta next month, it will also be available on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.

The new series also include iPhone 16 Pro with 6.3-inch and iPhone 16 Pro Max with 6.9-inch displays.

They are equipped with A18 Pro chip, and a new 48-megapixel fusion camera and a 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera.

The devices have "the thinnest borders on any Apple product" and offer "by far the best iPhone displays ever," according to the company.

They both come with titanium bodies, nearly half the weight of stainless steel and more scratch resistant.

The four titanium finishes are offered with colors of white, black, natural and desert.

While iPhone 16 Pro starts at $999 in the US, iPhone 16 Pro Max at $1,199 pre-orders will start on Friday.
