Gaza Municipality has not received fuel to operate wells, facilities, Yahya Al-Sarraj tells Anadolu

As many as 700,000 people in Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip are in urgent need of services due to Israeli attacks, an official said on Sunday.

Gaza Mayor Yahya Al-Sarraj told Anadolu that “approximately 700,000 residents in the Gaza City and the northern region require services, and fuel is essential to operate wells and facilities in these areas.”

He further said that “the suffering in Gaza remains severe, with an expected arrival of 200 aid trucks today.”

Al-Sarraj emphasized the extensive destruction and the need to clear roads for the smooth movement of rescue and relief teams, stressing the critical need for fuel.

He warned of the potential spread of diseases due to waste accumulation, urging dumping of waste to the primary landfill in the Johor al-Deek area, which is currently inaccessible.

Al-Sarraj appealed to international institutions, urging them to provide essential supplies, including food, water, fuel, and electricity to Gaza, particularly in the northern region.

In a bid to point out the desperate situation, the mayor said the Gaza Municipality has not received a single liter of fuel so far.
