Significant material damage also reported, with many trapped under rubble
At least seven civilians, including children and women, were killed, and 11 others injured in an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in the Mezzeh neighborhood of Damascus, according to Syria's state media.
“The Israeli enemy launched an airstrike with three missiles from the occupied Golan, targeting a residential building in the densely populated Mezzeh neighborhood of Damascus,” SANA news agency reported, citing an unnamed military source.
Significant material damage was reported as an initial toll, and rescue operations are ongoing to save others trapped under the rubble, the news agency said.
It shared photos showing the aftermath of the Israeli strike, with smoke rising from the targeted building. No further details were provided.
Meanwhile, Iran's official news agency IRNA said Israel had targeted a building near the Iranian embassy in Damascus.
Israel has been conducting airstrikes in Syria since 2011 against government forces, Iranian troops, and Hezbollah targets.
