“Only in 2016, 339 terrorist incidents were averted and 80 of which were prevented only over the last 3 months,” says Turkey's Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu in parliament's plenary session on Turkey's war on terror
On Tuesday Süleyman Soylu, Minister of Internal Affairs, addressed the country's efforts in the ongoing struggle against terrorism during a plenary session held before the parliament
Stating that law enforcement agencies and legal authorities are keeping a firm grip on terrorists and their activities, he said:
“Our security officials cut off financial channels of terrorists by ensuring border security. We are tracking every footsteps of terrorists one by one. Thus, as the ministry, responsible for the internal security, we are taking most suitable precautions against their maneuvers and strategies."
Emphasizing the Security Forces carried out $5-million anti-terror operation in 5 different Turkish cities on Dec. 26, the minister explained that they are seeking the terrorist links and finding them. This information is then immediately shared with legal authorities. The strategy, pursued by law enforcement agencies, is target-oriented.
Revealing the latest figures in the struggle against terrorism, Süleyman Soylu claimed that Turkey has constrained terrorist's activities in its struggle to a great extent:
“In 2016, 339 terrorist incidents were averted, 80 of which were prevented only over the last 3 months. The participation in the PKK terrorist organization was limited with merely 5 people during the past two months according to all our monitoring. Throughout 2006, 110 so-called chief terrorists were neutralized and also over the last 3 months, wanted 44 terrorists were neutralized."
Additionally, according to latest data provided by Soylu, over 3,000 Daesh-affiliated people were taken into custody and the ministry is rigorously carrying on its counter-Daesh efforts in operations against the terror group.
“We also take bold steps in a bid to eradicate narcotic terror and around 24,500 security officials are on the alert in 256 checkpoints," he added.
