The Turkish Interior Ministry announces that in the past week, 20 terrorists were neutralized in 222 nationwide operations
The Turkish Interior Ministry announced on Monday that 222 operations had been conducted across Turkey between January 9-16 by various security forces to ensure domestic security.
A total of 20 terrorists were neutralized, 11 of whom were killed, three whom surrendered and six whom were arrested.
In operations targeting the Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK) and Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK), 419 suspects were taken into custody, 40 of whom were arrested.
As a result of the operations, two handmade explosives and a mine were defused in controlled environments.
Nineteen hand grenades and 130 kilograms of chemicals used in the production of explosives were seized. A total of 103 various guns were also seized, 19 of which were heavy or long barreled.
Twenty-three terrorist shelters became inoperable as a result of the operations.
Seventy-two suspects who were in contact with Daesh were taken into custody, and 15 of these suspects were arrested.
As a result of operations targeting the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK)-affiliated Democratic Union Party (PYD), 839 suspects were taken into custody, 405 of whom were arrested.
