The Turkish military destroyed 178 Daesh targets and neutralized 26 Daesh terrorists in northern Syria in the past 24 hours as part of the ongoing Operation Euphrates Shield, the military said on Tuesday.
Heavy artillery fire destroyed 135 targets, including shelters, defense positions, command control centers and a weapons depot, according to the statement.
Fighter jets destroyed 43 targets, including 41 buildings used as shelters, one bomb-laden vehicle and one command control center.
The Turkish military, aided by the Free Syrian Army (FSA), has captured 40 per cent of al-Bab, which has been the focus of the Operation Euphrates Shield since early December.
The operation marks its 175th day on Tuesday, Feb. 14. More than 3,000 terrorists have been neutralized since the launch of the operation, and more than 3,000 handmade explosives and 66 mines have been neutralized under controlled conditions.
The operation was launched in late August to improve security, support coalition forces and eliminate the threat of terror along the Turkish-Syrian border.
Operation Euphrates Shield has cleared a total of 229 residential areas and 1,910 square kilometers of land along northern Syria's Azaz-Jarabulus corridor, which runs parallel the Turkish border.
