Day-long exhibition to showcase Turkey's historic heritage and modern culture

The Ankara Art Gallery and Auction House will host an exhibition for diplomats at the first Traditional Islamic Art Gallery in the Turkish capital on Tuesday.

The exhibition titled “On the Track of Our Civilization” -- which was showcased on Jan. 16 for the first time -- comprises of a wide variety of Islamic art pieces, some of which were being exhibited for the first time.

Tuesday's day-long exhibition aims to present Turkey's historic heritage and modern culture to diplomats in Ankara.

The exhibition shows the diversity of Islamic art by presenting its different branches, including Ottoman sultan’s edicts, old and new calligraphic works, modern and classical hilya, selected example of shrines, handwritten Qurans and more.

Illuminator Serpil Demirag, calligrapher Bekir Er and marble artist Necdet Akbasli will also introduce their works to guests during the event.

One of the extraordinary pieces of calligrapher Levent Karaduman, which includes the whole Quran in a gigantic artwork measuring 4.10 x 2.35 meters, will also be exhibited.

The day-long exhibition will be held between 10 a.m. (0700GMT) to 8 p.m. (1700GMT) local time.
