Turkey's benchmark stock index fell by 1.83%, or 1,742.90 points, to start Wednesday at 93,514.71 points.
On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose by 1.36% to close the day at 95,257.61 points with a daily trading volume of 7.15 billion Turkish liras ($1.12 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate went up to reach 5.9180 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, compared to 5.8950 at Tuesday's close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also rose to 6.5430, versus 6.4850, and one British pound traded for 7.5650 Turkish liras, while it stood at 7.4730 at the previous close.
One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around 59.02 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
