The Pentagon reiterates that PKK-affiliated YPG terrorist group must cross back east of the Euphrates River and the retreat has largely occurred
United States Department of Defense has reiterated the view that the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK)-affiliated People's Protection Units (YPG) terrorists must cross back to the east of the Euphrates River and the retreat has largely occurred.
“U.S. will remain closely engaged with NATO ally Turkey and with coalition-backed forces on grounds in northern Syria to de-escalate," said in a Pentagon statement.
“Uncoordinated operations and maneuvres only provide room for Daesh to find sanctuary and plan attacks on Turkey, U.S. and others, “added in the statement.
Contrary to the US' statement, recent reports showed that the terrorist group is not retreating to the east of the Euphrates and continues its attempts to unite Kobane and Afrin by trying to reach Gandura village in the direction of Çobanbey, despite the U.S. assurance and Turkish officials' repeated warnings to the PKK/PYD to vacate the area west of the Euphrates.
Previously on Sunday, Turkey's military neutralized 25 YPG terrorists in northern Syria in an airstrike.
In a statement, the Turkish Armed Forces said the air campaign was carried out against terrorist groups which had attacked Turkish soldiers supporting the Free Syrian Army (FSA) operation in Jarabulus.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU. Turkey also considers the PKK-affiliated People's Protection Units (YPG) as a terrorist group.
