The US said it will continue to hold North Korea accountable for its "support" to Russia in Ukraine war.

"We will continue to take action to hold Russia accountable for its actions in Ukraine and to hold North Korea accountable for its support for that war," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told a news conference on Tuesday.

Miller said they have already observed "the impact for Ukraine of North Korea supporting that war" regarding the transfer of weapons that have appeared on the battlefield.

Relations between the two countries are said to have grown closer since Moscow began its “special military operation” in Ukraine in February 2022. There is also a rising concern that Pyongyang is providing Russia with weapons.

In June, Russian President Vladimir Putin made his first visit to Pyongyang in 24 years, and the two countries signed a "strategic partnership" agreement.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un completed a trip to Russia last September.
