The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will fund Gaza with $15 million a month as a token of their support to Mohammed Dahlan, who is known as the “the assassin of the Middle East,” according to reports. Dahlan, who left the West Bank and relocated to Abu Dhabi in 2011, has strong ties with the UAE and Egypt. Dahlan and Hamas representatives in Gaza held a strategic meeting in June with the support of Egypt.
“Fifteen million dollars will be pumped monthly from the beginning of next month to the Palestinian Joint Liability Committee to support relief, humanitarian and development projects in the Gaza Strip,” Dahlan’s senior aide, Samir al-Masharawi stated.
The Committee was established early in July in Cairo following agreements made between Dahlan and Hamas. The UAE, in a period when Cairo and Abu Dhabi tries to reduce Qatar’s influence in Gaza, considers Dahlan as a useful mediator.
Egypt and the UAE allegedly agreed to overthrow the government in Palestine, and planned to give the leadership of Palestine to Mohammed Dahlan by deactivating Hamas and Fatah, Israeli press reported. Within this scope, confidential meetings were revealed to have been held between the parties in Cairo, Egypt.
