One new fatality and eight new cases of coronavirus were reported Wednesday in Lebanon, raising the total number of the infected to 58, and the death toll to two, the Health Ministry announced.
The deceased, 55, suffered health problems and weakness in his immune system, according to a statement by the ministry.
On Tuesday, Lebanon registered the first coronavirus-related mortality for a 56-year-old person, arriving from Egypt.
The coronavirus was initially detected last December in Wuhan, China, but has since spread to more than 100 countries.
The global death toll from COVID-19 is almost 4,300, with more than 118,000 confirmed cases, according to the World Health Organization.
