A Turkish soldier who was injured last week in a clash with PKK terrorists in southeastern Hakkari province has succumbed to his injuries, the country’s Defense Ministry said Monday.
The soldier sustained injuries in the Yuksekova district. He breathed his last at the hospital despite all-out efforts to save his life, the ministry said in a statement.
Operations are being conducted in the region against the PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey as well as the U.S. and the European Union.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK has been responsible for the deaths of some 40,000 people, including women, children and infants.
