250 students now have access to clean drinking water, Sefkat Yolu Association coordinator says

An Istanbul-based non-governmental organization has opened a well at a seminary in the Senegalese capital of Dakar.

The Sheikh Abdullah Hamidi Madrasa in the Thiaroye Gare neighborhood has long been dealing with water shortage, İlhan Yalım, Senegal coordinator of Şefkat Yolu Association, told Anadolu Agency on Saturday.

Yalım said nearly 250 students now have access to clean drinking water.

The association has also contributed to a project of Senegal’s Education Ministry to start courses for hafiz -- people who memorize the Holy Quran.

He also urged Muslims to give more importance to such projects.

The activities of Sefkat Yolu Association in Senegal have been ongoing since 2009.
