Following Istanbul's twin bombings on Dec. 10, Interior Ministry reports 924 suspects have been detained, 7 terrorists neutralized and TL 17 mln worth of contraband was seized in a nation-wide operation targeting the PKK terrorist organization
Turkey's Ministry of the Interior has announced that in the last week, 213 operations across 45 counties has resulted in the detainment of 924 terror suspects. A total of 7 terrorists were neutralized; two were killed, one was wounded and four are alive but ineffective.
Twenty-four shelters and 21 handmade explosives used by the terrorists were also destroyed.
As part of the operation, 700 kilograms of explosives, five grenades and 53 guns were seized.
Operations also targeted smuggling, which is a financial support mechanism of the PKK. Illegal cigarettes and drugs worth TL 17 million were seized, and 273 terrorists were taken into custody as part of the operations targeting smuggling.
Also as part of the operations, 88 Daesh terrorists were taken into custody, five of whom were arrested.
