Lieutenant General İsmail Temel visits units at northern Syria’s Mount
The commander of Turkey's Operation Olive Branch Second Army Commander Lt. Gen. İsmail Temel visited troops at Mount Bursaya in northern Syria. Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) and Free Syrian Army (FSA) units captured the strategic Mount Bursaya on Sunday, after advancing on it from the nearby Syrian city of Azaz.
Lt. Gen. Metin and his commanders inspected the peak and its surroundings.
The terrorist PYD/PKK has used Mount Bursaya to target civilians in the center of Turkey’s Kilis province and Syria’s Azaz district through mortar shells, artillery, and missiles.
Operation Olive Branch was initiated on Jan. 20 in Afrin to establish security and stability, eliminate terrorists of PKK/KCK/PYD-YPG and Daesh, and save locals from the terrorists’ oppression and cruelty.
The operation is being carried out under the framework of Turkey’s rights based on international law, UN Security Council resolutions, its self-defense rights under the UN charter, and respect for Syria's territorial integrity.
The military said it is putting the "utmost importance" on not harming any civilians.
