The "Baturatij Hamidiye Mosque", which was built during the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid II in Lebanon, was restored by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and was opened for worship again.
TIKA Lebanon Coordinator Onur Gez, Tripoli Mufti Muhammed Tarek Imam, administrative officials, and village residents were among the attendees of the mosque's opening ceremony in the Baturatij village of Kura Municipality in northern Lebanon's Tripoli city.
The historical mosque in the village of Baturatij, which trained many pashas and kadis who worked in the Ottoman bureaucracy, was restored by preserving its original stone structure.
The mosque, which was built as a gift from Abdulhamid II at the beginning of the 20th century, was reopened to worship 70 years later.
During the 33-year reign of Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamid II (1876-1909), numerous projects were implemented in the fields of education, transportation, health, and infrastructure in Lebanon.
