Qatar’s Defense Minister Al Attiyah will visit Ankara to meet Turkish Defense Minister Işık on the embargo imposed to Qatar
Qatar’s Defense Minister Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah will visit Ankara to meet his Turkish counterpart Fikri Işık.
Al Attiyah will meet Turkey’s Defense Minister Fikri Işık within the scope of his official visit to Ankara.
The meeting is expected to cover the embargo imposed on Qatar since June 5.
Turkey assumed tremendous responsibility in the aftermath of the Gulf states’ decision to sanction Qatar. Turkey has supported Qatar for a settlement of the dispute.
Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE, Bahrain and Yemen abruptly cut diplomatic relations with Qatar on June 5, accusing it of supporting terrorism. Qatar announced it had received the 13-point list of demands by the Gulf states and Egypt through Kuwait. Qatar’s government communications director Sheikh Saif bin Ahmed Al-Thani said the demands sent to the Doha government by the states placing an embargo on Qatar were not “reasonable, actionable”, and the list did not satisfy that criteria.
