The terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) dispatched new so-called officials to Syria’s Afrin after infighting between local terrorists from the PKK’s Syria offshoot, the PYD, and those summoned from Iraq’s Qandil, as the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) and Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighters continue to advance in the context of the ongoing Operation Olive Branch.
High-ranking PKK terrorists Hussein Gabar and Man Agid were dispatched by Qandil-based terror commander Jameel Bayeq to Rajo and Jandaris respectively, as reports claim that over 30 terrorists were executed after infighting within the ranks of the PKK/PYD terror group.
Mohammad Pasha, the commander of the Muntasirbillah Brigade, one of the Türkmen groups currently fighting in Afrin, spoke to Yeni Şafak about what’s being faced on the frontlines.
Pasha said that it takes two-and-a-half hours at the most to clear a village from PKK terrorists, noting that the Turkish Army is displaying the utmost sensitivity regarding civilian areas during preparations for the operation.
“Upon receiving orders to act, we rout terrorists from towns within a few hours. First, they attempted to forestall our advance with terrorists located on higher ground, however, now they attempt to do that through tunnels, sanctuaries and snipers, in addition to planting mines on the entire route.”
“Over the past two weeks, both male and female terrorists began assuming their roles as suicide bombers by inserting themselves among civilians, but the Turkish Army wants us to be prepared for any possible harm that could befall civilians when entering residential areas. This situation may appear as though it’s proceeding slowly, however the sensitivity being displayed is held in serious esteem and respect among the region’s people.”
“Over 130 positions have been cleared so far. Two thousand of the 6,500- 7,000 PKK terrorists, or a third of them, have been killed in Afrin. Some of the Shabbiha and Shia militias that were brought to Afrin for show were neutralized in the operations carried out in the past three days.”
Operation Olive Branch was initiated on Jan. 20 in Afrin to establish security and stability, eliminate terrorists of PKK/KCK/PYD-YPG and Daesh, and save locals from the terrorists’ oppression and cruelty.
Afrin has been a major hideout for the PYD/PKK since July 2012, when the Assad regime in Syria left the city to the terror group without putting up a fight.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union and the United States. The PKK has been conducting armed violence in the southeastern part of Turkey since 1984. The PYD and its military YPG wing are Syrian branches of the PKK.
