A 5.1-magnitude earthquake jolted Bangladesh's capital and northeast on Monday evening.

The epicenter of the earthquake was in the Manipur state of India about 366 kilometers (227 miles) northeast of the capital Dhaka.

Nizam Uddin Ahmed, an official at the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, told Anadolu Agency that the tremor was moderate and there was "likely no possibility of aftershock" in the country.

No casualties were immediately reported, he added.

Meanwhile, maritime ports were advised to raise their local cautionary signal as the country's meteorological department forecasted sudden and temporary storms in the country.

Bangladesh on May 20, experienced super cyclone Amphan, which originated in the Bay of Bengal and claimed at least 26 lives, injuring many others and causing severe damage across the country.
