Yeni Şafak and TVNET Editor-In-Chief says ‘After Jerusalem, Mecca and Medina will be targeted’ in a regional ‘invasion project’

Yeni Şafak and TVNET Editor-In-Chief İbrahim Karagül in a televised discussion evaluated regional developments, focusing on Trump’s intention to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

“After Jerusalem, Mecca and Medina will be targeted. Young Arab administrators sat down to negotiate with the U.S. and Israel about Jerusalem for their own futures. Every country, including Turkey, is under the threat of the invasion project. From North Africa to Pakistan, it is necessary to foresee what will be done in this geography,” said Karagül.

“Turkey is applying its own principles, philosophy and understanding of this geography and history,” he added.

U.S. officials have said Trump is likely to give a speech on Wednesday unilaterally recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital, a step that would break decades of U.S. policy and could fuel violence in the Middle East. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed concern regarding the move, saying Jerusalem was the “red line of Muslims” and adding that the matter could cause Turkey to cut its ties with Israel.

Jerusalem is sacred to both Muslims and Jews, as it includes sites known to Muslims as Haram al-Sharif (The Noble Sanctuary), al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the rock, as well as an ancient Jewish temple.

“The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait formed a Gulf axis against Iran. They established frontiers and promised security for the Gulf. Today, the U.S. is telling the Gulf countries that their enemy is Iran, not Israel. They want to mobilize the Gulf against Iran,” Karagül said.

“Arab states cannot discern the rise in the East. They are caught up in the West. Debates that ruin the state of mind of Muslims are being held,” he concluded.
