Protests across West Bank, Gaza City and Ramallah leaves two Palestinians martyred and over 300 injured
At least two Palestinians were martyred, 351 injured and and 748 were poisoned by teargas in the protests across territories when Israeli troops used force to disperse demonstrations, the Health Ministry said on Friday.
In several instances, Israeli forces responded to protesters with rubber bullets and excessive teargas. In some cases, they fired live ammunition into the air in an effort to disperse demonstrators.
On Wednesday, President Donald Trump -- reversing decades of U.S. policy -- announced his decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and move Washington’s Israel embassy to the city.
Jerusalem remains at the heart of the Israel-Palestine conflict, with Palestinians hoping that East Jerusalem -- now occupied by Israel -- might eventually serve as the capital of a Palestinian state.
